Scout adventures on Loch Long at Ardentinny Outdoor Centre

Camp Hillcrest is situated in the Wye Valley near the Royal Forest of Dean, meters from the Offa’s Dyke Path. Ideally located for hiking, cycling, and exploring the River Wye, it features a 15-bed bunkhouse, separate staff accommodation, an onsite indoor skatepark, and a games room with table tennis, pool, darts, and table football, with sole use of the site and free accommodation for Scout staff.

Peaceful and Serene, but Autumn’s on the Scene
The recent solar eclipse gave us a reminder that darkness exists, but thankfully, here at Wild Valley Huts, we’re still enjoying the long summer evenings! Evening walks. Evenings spent cosying by the chiminea. Evenings spent star gazing from the hot tub.
However, we have started to notice that there is an unmistakeable feeling of autumn in the air. It feels like the seasons are quietly turning. Goldern leaves twirling to the ground. The low sun filtering through the trees. A fresher, cooler scent in the air; making us want to wrap up or take an extra layer with us when we’re walking the dogs.

Waterslacks camping barn is perched high above the Manifold Valley in a secluded meadow. Scout leaders are invited to camp for free while the group stay in the barn.
Kings Welcomes Scouts
Kings is a perfect location for Scouts groups. Great facilities, 42 dorm beds, camping field, large fire pit, private river and car parks.
Surrounded by Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, Kings has amazing hiking opportunities straight from the front door.
Glorious beaches can be found around 15 minutes away by minibus, whilst slightly further afield there are world renowned mountain bike trails at Coed Y Brenin, the National Whitewater Centre near Bala and World Heritage historic sites such as Harlech and Caernarfon castles.

Over recent years Bron-y-Gader has hosted many Scout groups from far and wide in the UK.
At an elevation of 290m (950ft) in the foothills of Eyri (Snowdonia), with direct access to many paths and tracks leading to the mountains of the Carneddau range, with its seven peaks over 3000 feet, Bron-y-Gader Bunkhouse has an enviable position.
With no near neighbours apart from sheep in the surrounding fields Bron-y-Gader Centre, which sleeps 37, is ideal for groups to enjoy socialising together after a day exploring the Welsh hills and mountains or partaking in any of the numerous activities available in the surrounding area.
Scout Camps in Snowdonia – Special Offer for Scouts
Pentre Bach Bunkhouse and Campsite has been hosting Scout camps for the last 20 years. We have a communal firepit, which is always a winner for sitting around and telling stories of the day. We are suitable for Scout camps as we have 16 beds in an Alpine-style dorm with 16 mattresses on sleeping platforms, which is always fun! Downstairs is one big open space for cooking, dining, and socializing. We have a campsite too, so we can accommodate up to 35 people altogether. Camping is £10 pppn for Scouts instead of our normal £12.
History- and nature-related Scout activities on Suffolk farm stay
History Comes Alive here at Milden (and so does Nature and Environmental Conservation) for those wanting to earn badges here on our environmentally-friendly working farm. You can camp or stay in the 16th century listed Tudor Barn, learn archaeology techniques such as field walking and metal detecting and explore our growing museum, understand ancient buildings or learn about our motte and bailey castle monument. Alternatively, you can study and photograph nature – plants, insects, fungi and birds – in our ponds, woods and ancient meadows. Or explore the farm, hiking farm trails or learning to orienteer. There’s so much to discover!
Brecon Bunkhouse offers incredible value for money to Scout groups.
Set in the heart of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, you can hike world-class routes like the Dragon’s Back and Waun Fach right from the door. The bunkhouse features a large dining room and a generous lounge, providing plenty of communal space. It is run by an enthusiastic Scout family—the owner is a Queen’s Scout, and his sons and grandsons are all active Scouts with vast experience, including a historic visit to the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea.
