The whole family is welcome at this FREE event. The theme for Open Farm Sunday 2024 is ‘Farming with nature’. We do plenty of that, so come and explore our machinery, find out about invertebrates, bats & birds, have a go at green woodworking or enjoy a guided farm walk.

This year we are holding our event at Deepdale Farm a week earlier than the national day. This means it coincides with the last weekend of the May half term, making it the perfect half term activity. If you are visiting Norfolk for half term and heading home that day, why not stretch your legs around our farm before your journey.

Bookings are now open and we have many activities confirmed, but we may add more as well.

Confirmed:

owl pellet dissection
green woodworking demonstration with Richard Rood
Norfolk Rivers Trust
Norfolk & Norwich Bat Group
Iceni Bird Monitoring Group
guided farm walk (approximately 1.5 hours) with beautiful views of Brancaster Staithe harbour
machinery to explore including our combine and tractor
display on regenerative farming practices

Price: FREE but please pre-book your place, to help us plan for appropriate numbers.

Accommodation in the Norfolk Coast AONB

April 18th 2024

Deepdale sits within the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a stunningly beautiful area of the British coastline and part of the National Park family. When you cross the road from our rooms & campsite, and you are on the salt marshes of Brancaster Staithe harbour, and the Norfolk Coast Path stretches East and West throught this incredible landscape.

The landscapes of the Norfolk Coast tells a story, stretching from the ancient past to the modern day. Protected since 1968, this area has long been recognised for its unique beauty and sense of wilderness.

Close to King’s Lynn and the royal Sandringham Estate, you’ll find the Wash estuary. The area is probably named after the Old English word ‘wãse’, meaning mud, slime or ooze … but don’t let that put you off! The mudflats and marshes found here are some of the most important in the country, providing a vital food source for hundreds of thousands of bird species.

Moving along the coast, you’ll encounter wild and remote coastal marshes, shifting mud and sandflats, wide sand and shingle beaches and rolling sand dunes. The saltmarsh habitat in this area is some of the finest in the country, criss-crossed by winding creeks and home to many rare bird species.

Discover more about areas to enjoy wildlife on our website.
