News & Offers from Ty Cwch Boathouse
In a secluded cove on the Wales Coast Path, between Llangrannog and New Quay.
April 23rd 2026
On Iolo Williams’ favourite stretch of the Wales Coast Path, you’ll find Ty Cwch Boathouse waiting at the end of the day. Nestled in a secluded cove, it sleeps 4–12 and offers a fully equipped kitchen, a deck with infrared heating for cooler evenings, and a firepit in the garden. After a long day on the trail, enjoy hot showers and comfortable beds.
Iolo Williams — Wales’ best-known naturalist — has named this stretch of the Ceredigion coast his favourite section of the Wales Coast Path. From Ty Cwch, the path goes north to New Quay through clifftop meadows thick with wildflowers, or south past hidden coves towards Llangrannog and the Teifi Estuary.
Ty Cwch is built from larch-clad shipping containers in a quiet valley at Cwmtydu, a cove midway between those two towns. It sleeps 12, has a full kitchen, a deck with an infrared heater for cool evenings, and a firepit in the garden. After a long day on the path, the showers are hot and the beds are comfortable.
Group walks are one of the best answers to the current cost of travel — split the accommodation between eight or twelve people and the nightly cost per head is genuinely modest. From £25 per person per night at full occupancy, with discounts from 5% for three nights to 25% off for a week or longer.
The seals in the bay are free.

Wild Swims
April 16th 2026
Cold water, warm evenings, remarkable value
The sea at Cwmtydu is clear. The river pool where the Afon Ffynnon Ddewi reaches the beach is sheltered and shallow. The showers back at Ty Cwch are reliably hot. That’s the wild swim sorted from start to finish.
Ty Cwch is a Green Tourism Gold-awarded boathouse on the Cardigan Heritage Coast — sleeping up to 12 in three first-floor pods, with a full kitchen, outdoor showers, deck, and firepit. The beach is a minute’s walk. The Welsh Coast Path runs past the door, north to New Quay and south to Llangrannog.
For groups and families, the numbers make sense: at full occupancy, this comes to £25 per person per night. In a cost-of-living squeeze, choosing a week of sea swimming in West Wales over flights and foreign accommodation is one of the more pleasurable decisions you can make.
Two well-behaved dogs welcome for exclusive group bookings.
