Dolgoch Hostel formerly part of the YHA
Dolgoch Hostel was a simple YHA hostel in the Elenydd Valleys that had a loyal supporter base of Youth Hostellers. WhenDolgoch and it’s sister hostel Tyncornel Hostel were put up for sale in 2007 supporters set up their own trust Elenydd Wilderness Hostels Trust to buy the two hostels. For the following 7 years Dolgoch and Tyncornel hostels remained affiliated to the YHA as private youth hostels. During this period the YHA renamed them as bunkhouses and in 2017, the YHA excluded both hostels from their affiliate scheme. The good news is, despite many adversities, both hostels are thriving.

Old School Hostel formerly Trefin Youth Hostel
This youth hostel belongs to a local church and had been leased to the YHA since 1968. The hostel was majorly reformed in 1992 when the two large, high ceiling school rooms were fitted with an upstairs floor which accommodated six bedrooms with 2 to 6 beds. In the early 2000’s the YHA gave up the lease. It has continued under independent operation ever since and has been part of the Independent Hostels network since 2006.
