Moffat Sheep Races and Drovers Day

Well Road Centre Group Accommodation - Moffat Sheep Races

There are not to be anymore sheep races in Moffat due to online petitions and other ethical concerns for animal welfare. This was substituted by a drover day last Summer where rare breeds were on display but the only racing was teams of humans dressed in sheepish costumes.

Set away from the bustle and only short walk from the vibrant town centre of Moffa. Moffat is just 3 minutes from the A74(M), making it an easily accessible base for a trip around Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders. A quiet, beautiful and unspoiled part of Scotland. Moffat has a rich heritage and thriving creative scene. The newly refurbished Moffat Museum is well worth a visit and there are theatres, art galleries and independent shops. Moffat has a busy local music scene and yearly event include the annual Moffat Gala and the new Moffat Drovers Day which replaces the Moffat Sheep Races.
