The iconic coastal ex Youth Hostel at Trefin, The Old School Hostel is welcoming guests once more.
July 24th 2019
Great value self catering accommodation just a 10 mins stroll from the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Explore the nearby village of Porthgain a favorite for its pub, ‘The Shed’, fish and chip restaurant and its galleries or discover the ‘secret’ beach of Traeth Llyfn and the Blue Lagoon at Abereiddy.
There’s been a hostel in Trefin for over 50 years now, originally a youth hostel, but for the last 12 years providing a welcome as an independent hostel under the stewardship of Sue and Chris. Now the reins have been handed over to the new wardens, Paul and Helen who are looking forward to welcoming many walkers, friends, holiday makers – all of whom made the Old School such a special place.
Here’s to the next 50 years of the Old School Hostel being, as the YHA so eloquently said of its raison d’etre “this hostel is one of many, both in this country and abroad, where people, regardless of race or creed, may spend the night. The buildings are diverse in character but they have a common purpose: to help all, especially those of limited means, to a greater knowledge, love and care of the countryside.”
Our very best wishes extend to Paul and Helen, who we know to be warm and lovely people. Over to you guys!
