Now the snow has melted and spring is in the air, it’s time to plan your Easter break!
Easter is one of the most beautiful times of year and the Northumberland Coast, being a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, boasts panoramic coastal views as well as miles upon miles of unspoilt coastline. So, whether you want to spend the day on the surf, explore the many heritage sites, halls and castles, visit glorious gardens bursting into life or take a trip out to the Farne Islands to see the freshly hatched puffins, there is truly something for everyone at Easter!

Easter break in south west wales.
Gilfach Wen Barn is a bunkhouse on a working farm just half an hours drive from the Welsh end of the M4. With plenty of options for forest or hillside walks on the doorstep, or a short drive to reach local beaches, the brecon beacons national park or explore other areas of the Cambrian Mountains. There is a village pub and shop in walking distance and I can put you in contact with the local minibus company if you would like to head to other pubs, restaurants or clubs for an evening out.

We have availability over the Eater holidays for groups of up to 24. Come and visit our bunkhouse based on our beautiful working farm. Lambing will be in full swing by then! Located just outside Abergavenny in the Brecon Beacons. There are great walking/running and cycling routes from the doorstep and a traditional pub serving bar snacks and meals at the end of the drive!
This is the best place to eat, sleep and drink for hikers and cyclists on the Tarka Trail.

Spring in Glen Clova a remote area of our Wild Isles, suprisingly accessible from the south.
Red Kites are now common here as are raven, and we have a hen harrier’s nest. The waders, curlew, oystercatchers, & lapwing have arrived, and the black grouse will soon start lecking. Golden Eagles are spotted next door, in Glenclova, but rarely come over us here, in 70 years I’ve twice seen one in our glen. First time it was being buzzed by several buzzards & I suspect they may deter them, though the buzzards seem to fly happily with the red kites.

Weekend and midweek Easter breaks available on our lovely environmentally-friendly Suffolk farm with farm trails to walk, adult road bikes to borrow. Easter eggs to hunt, spring wildflowers, lambs, ponds with courting newts, hooting tawny owls, hunting barn owls, dawn chorus …. come and enjoy sole use of the Old Brooder in spring.

Ashbourne Gateway Centre provides affordable group accommodation this summer next to the Tissington Trail and all the amenities of the historic town of Ashbourne. Ashbourne Arts are holding a festival of family entertainment, works by local artists, comedy, poetry, and open air theatre in June and July. The Centre is just a 20 minute drive to Alton Towers, or escape the crowds on Peak District footpaths and trails.

At Ilderton Dod Barns, our self-catering barn conversions on our working hill farm in North Northumberland, you can experience life in a remote part of Northumberland National Park. Right now we’re busy calving, and lambing is about to start. You can’t fail to spot the sheep surrounding the garden of the properties, and we’re happy to have guests take a closer look at what goes on here, or by visiting one of our other farms.

Rydal Hall Bunkhouse, set in 30 acres of the Rydal Hall Estate, close to the 30-bed hall, the Grade II Thomas Mawson Gardens, the Campsite, Eco-pods and two holiday cottages. It stands on the coffin route between Ambleside and Grasmere, with an onsite riverside tea shop right on hand to explore local walking routes.
