May Half-Term Availability Surrounded by our Lambs

At Ilderton Dod Barns, lambing is well underway just metres from the door of our self-catering accommodation. Our 600 Scottish Blackface ewes are ideally suited to our hill farm in North Northumberland just 5 miles south of the Scottish Border. Those carrying twins lamb in the fields surrounding the property, while the single-bearing ewes roam the remaining 1800 acres of hill.

If sheep aren’t your thing, we have an abundance of wildlife too – curlews, grouse, hares, cuckoos, deer etc. Providing the grass continues to grow, our cows and calves should also be out on one of the hills by mid-May where they get to enjoy the views for the summer! Our whole farm is access land so you can roam where you like but there are footpaths and bridleways criss-crossing the land plus the Pennine Way walk, Sandstone Way mountain bike route and NCN cycle route 68 within 2 miles. For the less adventurous, or those with shorter legs, we have made two circular, marked routes around the farm of 1.5-2.5 miles including signboards about the wildlife plus a game for kids.
