News & Offers
…wonderfully renovated, cosy and private…
Shepherd’s Crook Bunkhouse has a rather charming tale to its naming. The grandfather of the family who own the farm, Grandfather Fred, lived and worked here from 1929 and was an accomplished maker of traditional Shepherd’s Crooks. They are more than an anachronistic throwback – You see these in daily use by the sheep farmers of the lakelend Fells. It was his idea to name the bunkhouse, and his picture hangs on the wall. It ison a working fell farm with a history going back to the 17th century, Noranbank Farm.
Noranbank is in picturesque Patterdale. Picturesque doesn’t quite do it justice. On a clear and sunny day, the fells and dales, are welcoming sea of green, alive with red deer and birdlife. On a grey day, the mountains are rugged, handsome, tough and eternal. With the lakes of Ullswater and Brotherswater at each end and the heights of Helvellyn and High Street above, it is Cumbria at its best.
The Bunkhouse is only 5 minutes’ walk away from the Coast to Coast route as well as The Westmorland Way. It is wonderfully renovated and sleeps only 8, meaning it is also cosy and private.
