Isaacs’ Tea Trail is a circular long-distance walk, with Carrshield Camping Barn inside the route. An ideal base from which to explore the area.
The route, which is annotated on Ordnance Survey maps, is approximately 36 miles long and split into four easy stages. Those more energetic have run the course, whilst others have done it more leisurely over several visits to the area. The options are yours. Whichever way you plan your adventure you will see the best that the North Pennines AONB has to offer.

Kings Hostel, in Dollegau is perfectly located for a real Snowdonia adventure for groups of up to 42. For walkers, runners and cyclists the Mawddach Trail passes the grounds. Kings hostel has a great bike shed or you can hire bikes locally. For those that need a bit more altitude, you can access both the Pony and Fox’s paths up to Cader Idris straight from the front door! Coed y Brenin, with its world famous bike trails, is 10 minutes away by car. For some sea air and sandy beaches Fairbourne is just a 15 min drive away.

A preserved 2-foot narrow gauge railway that is the second highest in England along the route of the old Alston to Haltwhistle line that was built in the mid-1800. By planning your day, it is possible to visit a Roman hill fort overlooking the valley, three different cafes and take a cooling dip into the South Tyne River.

To the delight of C2C cyclists, walkers and lovers of the remoteness of the North Pennines, Mill Cottage Bunkhouse in Nenthead is taking guests again. Formerly known as the Assay Office Bunkhouse and now under new ownership, the bunkhouse is open to individuals, couples and small groups of up to 6 people. Dogs are welcome (by arrangement), a continental breakfast can be provided and you’ll find a cafe, community shop and bike repair centre in the nearby village.
