Perfect for west coast wanderers

Hiking, climbing, cycling or just wandering where your feet take you, the Glenfinnan Sleeping Car is a great base for local Corbetts and Munros, and local walks on surrounding estate land.
Many of our guests are on longer walks – we are a popular first night stop on the Cape Wrath Trail, for hikers to have possibly the last hot shower, comfy bed or hearty meal for several days, if not a week!
We’re also well-connected by bus and train for days out, including taking the Mallaig-Skye ferry.

Can a railway carridge be an independent hostel?

Yes, it can! It may be pretty quirky, but it’s homely, clean, has a fantastic location, and is just a roll out of bed away from another vintage Mk1 Carriage – the Glenfinnan Station Dining Car. A separate business, the Dining Car provides excellent breakfasts and lunches for our Sleeping Car guests, and we fully appreciate it being there. It also provides pre-prepared dishes which can be heated up in the Sleeping Car oven. It feels good to support fellow community members’ small businesses!
