White Peris Lodge is just down the road from Vivian Quarry, home to Vivian Dive Centre. White Peris Lodge is part of Blue Peris Mountain Centre and has lots storage, drying rooms and an outdoor area. The lodge sleeps 13 people and can be hired for sole use by Dive clubs. It has a self catering kitchen, large communal area with tables, comfy chairs, full central heating and lovely hot showers.
In our latest inspection we were awarded 3 pennants. Which we’re thrilled by. It’s lovely to see our hard work being recognised, with an award no less… We were praised for our rustic fencing and introduction of superfast wifi. But what we’re most proud of is the description of our well maintained and lush camping space, which has been the overnight stay for over 100,000 DofE visitors over the years, here’s to the next 100,000!
Seasoned divers will know that Seahouses is filled to the brim with wonderful dive spots. Along its shores there are many wrecks and reefs to be explored. Divers can join a dive tour or charter a boat themselves. See the magic of Seahouses both above and below the water.
If the accommodation at the National Diving and Activity Centre is full why not try a night or two at The Greenman Backpackers in Chepstow. Offering much more then your average hotel, the Greenman provides friendly accommodation for outdoor enthusiasts. Sleeping in private hotel style bedrooms, the self catering kitchen and lounge make this town centre hostel a real social hub.
It’s just five minutes walk to the Pier from Swanage Auberge, the bunkhouse that cares. The Pier has kit hire, air & boat charters. Diver Down Dive School are a good resource for dives. There are a variety of dives in the area, deep and shallow including many WW1 and WW2 wrecks which lie in deeper water outside the bay.
These include, Kyarra, Betsy Anna, Valentine Tanks, Aeolian Sky, Carantan, Firth Fisher, Venezuela, Hazlewood, Aparema, Avanti, Everleigh, Simla, Smyrna and many more.
The centre provides room hire for organisations and conferences and runs local activities. It also provides accommodation in the attached Findhorn Village Hostel, which can be combined with the conference facilities if required.
With Chesil Beach, ideal for shallow shore dives, across the road and Portland Bill, with its abundance of historical wrecks just around the corner, The Bunker at Portland provides great value accommodation for Divers. Clean and simple bunk style rooms, each with its own shower and sink. Historic Reagill Village Hall, (formerly the oldest school in Westmorland, founded 400 years ago) is making history again. This time it is opening its ancient doors to overnight guests. It is perfect for people travelling the Coast to Coast mountain bike cycle route The facilities are basic (this is reflected in the price) and the accommodation has much to offer. It’s located close to the C2C walking & mountain biking routes, it’s got great heating and the tiny hamlet of Reagill with it’s 20 houses, quiet roads and no street lights will take you back to a bygone era.
Come to stunningly remote Ennerdale in the Lake District and stay at Wild Wool Barn, a luxurious bunk barn sleeping 6 (with extra camping for an additional 6). Rhosiili Bunkhouse provides self contained accommodation on the same site at the Village hall. It is run for the benefit of the local community. The Village Hall hosts Quiz nights, Theatre groups, Murder Mystery, Twm Path, Poems and Pints and other events. Guests at the bunkhouse a always welcome to attend. Quite a few guests hire the hall for wedding parties and celebrations or just as extra room and workspace for training events.
