We are holding an Open Afternoon on the day to mark this momentous occasion. Anyone who has been involved as a volunteer helper, user or is simply interested is invited to come and see how the centre has developed from the derelict hill farm in Snowdonia that the Blackburn & District Outdoor Pursuits Centre Trust bought in 1969.

It’s only months away from finishing school. We host loads of small groups of students that have finished their GCSES and are waiting on the results.
Just 7 miles before Conwy, right on the coast , Platts Farm Bunkhouse offers an idyllic place for some R & R after you’ve finished your Traws Eyri route. Shops, pubs and cafés are within 5 minutes’ walk.
Just off the route in Bethseda you’ll find Caban Cysgu Gerlan Bunkhouse. With the convenience of shops and pubs within walking distance, this could be the answer to stop-over on your Traws Eyri adventure.
A short diversion from your Traws Eyri route, just north of Nant Ffrancon, will take you to Ogwen Valley Bunkhouse. You can book this cosy, comfortable bunkhouse by the bed, the room or take over the whole place, (it sleeps 16).
Looking to unwind? How about staying at Shining Cliff hostel, an off-road hostel located in the heart of Shining Cliff Woods, an ancient woodland in Derbyshire?
Snowdon Mountain Hostel lies directly on the route as it winds up the Ogwen Valley just north of Nant Fracon. Perfect for groups of up to 24.
Cycling clubs and large groups of up to 33 will find a perfect stop-over on their Traws Eyri Bikepacking expedition at the Woodlands Centre in Betws-y-Coed.
This lovely bunch from York have been and gone recently. They may be missing The Old School House and the beautiful Robin Hood’s Bay views but they’re already booked back in for 2025.
Denton House is a purpose built hostel in Keswick in the Lake District. Surrounded by stunning scenery, great cycling and wonderful walking. Derwentwater is just a short stroll away. Recently refurbished, the hostel is warm, comfortable and well equipped. Book by the bed, the room or book sole use of the whole place (sleeps 66).
In the heart of old town Hull, run by a cycling enthusiast. Hull Trinity Backpackers offer safe cycle storage, and has welcomed both individuals and groups over the years. Plenty of friendly hostelries nearby offering food and liquid refreshments for those weary legs! Easy to find too – right next to Hull Minster and Trinity Indoor Market. We’re a traditional hostel, minutes from the waterfront, we provide coffees, ices and a kitchenette too, for those wishing to do their own thing. All welcome!
Family-run accommodation in an idyllic location, perfect for solo travelers and groups of up to 16 walkers. We offer comfortable private rooms with all bedding and towels provided. We also provide breakfast and packed lunches for your journey, and we have an on-site honesty shop for snacks and drinks after a long walk. We are just 10 minutes stroll from the pub, the First and Last Inn. There is also a bus stop in the village, allowing you to drop off your backpack early for a hassle-free walk.
Camp Hillcrest is 9 miles out of Chepstow, and you can walk to the start of the Wales Coast Path mostly along the Offa’s Dyke path. Bedding is provided, dogs are welcome by arrangement and breakfast, packed lunches and hearty evening meals are available if booked in advance. A drying room, hot showers, comfy beds and the chance to meet other walkers tick all the final boxes on every walkers’ wish list.
Hearing the sad news of the closure of Derwentwater Independent Hostel, we would like to thank the trustees and employees of this amazing charity. Their hard work and investment rescued the hostel from closure when it was sold by the YHA and extended its life by a further 12 years. This has produced an amazing impact on the lives of many young people over the last 12 years, and given the rest of us an opportunity to stay in this grand building, an iconic hostel.

Brompton on Swale Bunkbarn has lockable storage and an outside tap to wash bikes off. It’s just off the route on the main road. Self-catering kitchen and lounge. Book a bunk or a private room. Sleeping bags and towels can be hired. There is a shop directly opposite and a pub 100m away that serves lovely pub grub and breakfast. Lots of reviews on Google.
Ocean backpackers in sunny Ilfracombe will be open again on 28th March after the winter closure. Guests old and new will be welcomed with open arms to this gem of a seaside hostel.
We have availability this Easter so come and explore the area around Pentre Bach Bunkhouse. We are well situated for exploring the mountains, forests, and coastal walks. Easter weather is often good and its a quieter time to enjoy the mountains. The local pub is a great place to have an ample meal and a lovely real ale brewed on their premises. We have a garden area with ample seating, bbq and firepit which is great for stargazing. We are dog friendly too.
Bring your friends or family to the Old Brooder on a walking or cycling holiday – we’ve got 22 road bikes and maps to borrow with short or long walking or cycling routes planned for guests. Enjoy our farm trails, footpaths or quiet country lanes with pubs, nature reserves and Millennium Greens to stop at and have a picnic! Historic houses, beautiful countryside, medieval villages … and come back for an evening feasting together in the kitchen or, in the summer, a barbecue with croquet.
