Fell Runners… Save these dates!

Earby Hostel is ideally located near to many sights of natural beauty such as the Pendle Way and the Pennine Way. So it is no surprise that there are some very exciting up and coming fell runs/walks in the local area. And Earby Hostel is THE place to stay while participating or observing them!

Hostel owner Matt and his family are passionate outdoor enthusiasts

Montaine Spine Races

The Montane Spine Races are widely regarded amongst the toughest endurance races in the world. The non stop, expedition style of racing will test your physical and mental resilience in the most challenging of conditions. The Winter and Summer Races, often known as Britain’s Most Brutal, take on the iconic Pennine Way in the UK.

The Pennine Way passes very closely to Earby Hostel. Why not use Earby Hostel as a base camp while you train for one of these races? Alternatively, we welcome friends and family to stay while they cheer you on!

Pendle Way in a Day

The Pendle Way In A Day – A Winter Ultra in East Lancashire – is a fully waymarked trail challenge event in the gritty yet beautiful trails and moorlands of the South Pennines in early February, starting and finishing from Barley Village Hall in Barley, Pendle. A full circular of the Pendle Way of approximately 45miles with 6100ft ascent (68.8km, 1848m) and an alternative option of approximately 30miles with 4500ft (46.5km, 1343m) open to both Runners and Walkers.

Earby Hostel volunteered as a re-fuel station for runners in 2024. It was a great way to meet and cheer on participants. In 2025, we would love to host runners too! We have many facilities that specifically cater to runners so you will be right at home and very close to the race.
