They provide activities both on-site and throughout the stunning Peak District and work with an additional group of experienced freelance instructors to provide safe adventure opportunities for all ages and experience levels.

Ackers Adventure Outdoor Centre is just the ticket for groups and families to enjoy outdoor activities. Whether it be releasing your inner Robin Hood with some archery or getting back to nature with bushcraft. If those aren’t for you, other outdoor entertainments are available. There’s no reason not to dust off your adventuring hat and book yourself an outing. The residential centre (ARC) is purpose-built accommodation with 9 sleeping rooms, a fully equipped self-catering kitchen, dining area and a rec room with comfy seating. Set in 70 acres just 2 miles from the centre of Birmingham. It has 9 sleeping rooms, a fully equipped self-catering kitchen, dining area and a rec room with TV, DVD, games and comfy seating. Ackers Adventure provide instructor led outdoor activities on site which can be incorporated into your stay.
The Old Brooder Bunkhouse is a great eco-farm-stay location for school residentials, DofE and other youth groups who want either accommodation only or would like some history, environment, art or culture-related activities too. The Old Brooder can accommodate up to 22 guests, plus 25 in our Tudor Barn, catered for or do your own. We’re in a good spot to use as a base from which to explore the local area. Close to London, within an hour of Harwich, the Suffolk Coast, Cambridge, Thetford Forest.
Shore Lodge is all on one level and includes a dining area, kitchen, wet room, and level access into the building (with a slight ramp).
Mar Lodge Bunkhouse, near Braemar in the Cairngorms National Park, offers comfortable accommodation for up to 12 guests in four bedrooms. One bedroom at the bunkhouse is suitable for disabled visitors. One bedroom and bathroom at the bunkhouse is suitable for disabled visitors.

Denton House is a purpose built hostel sleeping 66 in a mixture of dorms and leaders’ rooms. Exclusive use is available for school groups. There is a car park for coaches and minibuses, storage and drying space for outdoor equipment, central heating throughout, a large dining room and solid bunk-beds with all bedding provided. The self catering kitchen is equipped for group catering and packed lunches and evening meals are all available upon request.
Ideal for groups of 30 -70 students, this large outdoor centre in the unspoilt Duddon Valley provides a wide range of instructor-led outdoor activities. Canoeing, Climbing, Ghyll scrambling, abseiling, bushcraft, crate stacking, stand up paddle-boarding, archery and more. Holder of the Adventure Activities Licence, the centre provides risk assessments and support for teachers and group leaders.
Built from mainly recycled materials, the Boathouse sleeps 12 in 3 insulated first floor pods. Downstairs three further pods house a full kitchen, dining room, sitting area and utility room. These open out onto a covered deck with seating/dining. Right on the Wales Coast Path, easy access for launching boats, great fishing and swimming. Activities providers available for foraging, climbing, cycling, kayaking and paddleboarding.
We’re really keen to develop an offering for schools at Youlgreave Hostel in the Peak District. We’re happy to assist where needed to help make the experience as smooth as possible for teachers. While we don’t routinely provide a full risk assessment, we can certainly offer one on request. We’re also on hand to give advice about local activities, walking routes, and any useful contacts in the area.
As the season slowly comes to an end, we’re opening up our hostel availability for exclusive use by large groups throughout the winter months. So if you have a school group, university club, mountaineering group, big family gathering or simply want to bring all your friends up to Skye then get in touch with us about renting the entire hostel out! This is a great chance to see Skye when it’s at its most serene.
The rooms have been emptied of furniture and a building contractor is in the final stage of being engaged. Here is our new room layout, which creates an option for bedroom hire to individuals, families and smaller groups that are willing to share the kitchen and living areas, as well as exclusive hire to groups. We don’t know precisely when the Centre will reopen, watch this space where we will provide online booking as soon as we are ready to start taking bookings for 2026. Keep an eye on our social media channels and website where we will be posting photos as the building work progresses.
Jillie at Gilfach Wen Barn can provide the school group leaders with contacts to the Grazers committee who manage Llanllwni Mountain, and the NRW staff who run the permissions system for Brechfa Forest. She is also the director of the community Forest School site and can facilitate its use for craft and green woodworking groups. The barn has 7 bunkrooms including one accessible downstairs bedroom.
Bring your school to The Byre at Millhouse on the Isle of Tiree, to learn through experiencing wildlife and a small island community. The Byre at Millhouse sits on the site of Cornaigmore Mill and offers hostel style accommodation. It sleeps16 across 4 rooms.
