9 miles out of Chepstow with Offa’s Dyke path right on the doorstep, Camphill Hillcrest is the ideal place for your first (or last) night’s stopover. The extensive 2024 refurbishments at The Roaches Bunkhouse have included some accessible features. The larger of the two lodges at the bunkhouse, Peak Lodge, has a downstairs bedroom (sleeping 5), there’s a ground floor accessible bathroom and an accessible entrance. Pleased note Peak Lodge sleeps 25 and is only available to groups.

If you have a support vehicle (or fancy a famous road climb) then Chapel Gallery Bunkhouse in Wensleydale is a great option to stay at when you are doing the Mountain Bike Coast to Coast. To get to Hawes you have to drive for 7km (or bike if you have the legs for it) over the infamous Buttertubs Pass. With 350m elevation and spectacular views down Swaledale, then over to Ingleborough, and down Wensleydale, it is a stunning route.

This trail is a 13 mile circuit of Oswestry, Shropshire. The trail includes many historical points of interest including the Old Race Course & the Iron Age Hill Fort. It’s a National Trail that runs alongside the English/Welsh border. The trail is divided into five sections, making it possible to walk it in stages.

Glenfinnan Bunkhouse is superbly positioned. Overlooking Loch Eil on the A830 10 miles west of Fort William (on the Mallaig road) it’s easily accessible. It makes a great base for groups of up to 12 for: climbing (Ben Nevis), skiing (Aonach Mor & Glencoe), mountain biking & walking (so many routes to choose from). While the white sandy beaches of Arisaig and the Glenfinnan Viaduct, made famous by the Harry Potter movies, are also a short drive away.
The Rookhow Retreat Away scheme offers subsidised stays for community groups. Groups have to apply- 2 rounds a year in April and October. This scheme is aimed at people who would not otherwise be able to afford a break away. 25%/ 50% or 75% funding for the accommodation depending on need and availability of funds.
