A home away from home for those who don’t usually have the opportunity to access the magic and beauty of rural Wales.
The Braich Goch Bunkhouse and Inn, owned by the Anne Matthews Trust, provides sanctuary, residentials & critical learning spaces for individuals, groups and organisations of people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, with a focus on young adults seeking asylum in the UK. The funds raised through your booking will contribute directly towards these charitable aims.
A pleasant diversion from the North Sea Cycle Route
We are 21 flat, rural miles from Arbroath—not directly on the traditional North Sea Cycle Route, but well worth the detour. Many cyclists choose to stay with us, especially those coming from the coastal Montrose direction. The area offers gently rolling country lanes, perfect for cycling, and we welcome one-night stays for touring cyclists. In 2025, we’re excited to introduce a brand-new cycle storage area, providing a dedicated space for bike maintenance and secure storage.

Cycling holidays in the Yorkshires Wolds and beyond
In the heart of old town Hull, run by a cycling enthusiast, this traditional hostel offers safe cycle parking and cycle rentals at the cheapest rates you will find. Several long distance routes pass through or near Hull. Route 1 – Hull to Harwich starts or ends here. The TransPennine Trail (route 67) is within a mile of us. Or for those fancying a lovely cycling day trip, the Hull to Hornsea rail trail takes the same route to the coast. Route 65 is also close by, connecting up to North Yorkshire. The Wolds Way ( route 66) officially starts a few miles away in Hessle under the Humber Bridge. And we are the perfect resting point for those either leaving or returning on the Hull – Rotterdam daily ferry service.

Run by keen cycle tourers, this hostel has everything a cyclist might need. A secure bike shed where bike maintenance tools are available along with wash down facilities. En-suite private rooms with great rates for solo travelers. Fully equipped kitchen and comfortable communal lounge area with log burning stove. Popular with ‘end to enders’ cyclists and walkers.
Cyclists are welcome at heart of the historic seaside town of Dunbar.
Dolphin Dunbar has excellent facilities for cyclists. Secure Asgard bike sheds within a locked courtyard, so you can rest easy knowing your bikes are safe. Bike washing and maintenance area in the courtyard including an outdoor hose, brushes and sponges for cleaning and tools for small repairs or adjustments e.g. bike pumps, allen key sets and chain lubricants. This characterful hostel, a short walk to the beach and the High Street, sleeps 27 across 11 rooms. The local cycle routes are mostly on country roads with scenic coastal views and cycle paths through woodland areas. There are also quicker routes that follow the main roads.

Family-run accommodation in an idyllic location, perfect for solo travelers and groups of up to 16 walkers. We offer comfortable private rooms with all bedding and towels provided.
