Jo-Jo owner of the very popular Inverness Student Hotel has launched a petition to force the Government to recognise the unique problems the covid-19 restrictions have placed upon all the Scottish hostels. The hope is enough signatures will persuade them to direct more emergency funding to struggling hostel owners

Hidden away in Harwood Forest, near Rothbury, owned by Forestry England, Chartners Farm is definitely off the grid. Electricity is generated by a wind turbine & solar panels, a huge log burner heats the radiators and keeps the place cosy.
The country house of Rydal Hall provides en-suite rooms in the Hall, eco-pods for individuals in the grounds and a group accommodation bunkhouse in the old stables.
This small bunkroom provides a small kitchenette, one set of bunks, a dining table & an en suite shower room.

For those who like simple hostels, Reagill Village Hall offers budget accommodation in a tiny hamlet just under 4 miles from the Ravenber Way route. Recommendations for a route diversion would be highly appreicated! Facilities include a kitchen with cooker, fridge & microwave, 2 multi stove heaters, power shower and blow up mattresses to sleep on (BYO bedding). Not to mention wonderful dark skies for star gazing from the door.
Close to Penrith town centre and on many long distance routes, Wayfarers Hostel has lots of experience welcoming walkers. Providing excellent value accommodation with individuals, small parties & groups welcome and a mainline train station in the town. It is worth a taxi ride to stay here.
