Roasting chestnuts over the campfire….yum! Shining Cliff hostel is located off-road, in the heart of Shining Cliff woods, an ancient woodland that is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
There are many coppiced Chestnut trees in the woods, and quite a few on the half mile footpath from the private woodland car park to the hostel, and in the autumn time the path is littered with chestnuts that are perfect for roasting over the campfire in the stunning hostel fire pit area.

Our bunkhouse lies alongside the Beacons Way long distance footpath in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. We have a large projector screen and flipchart/whiteboard/pens (if required) and plenty of space for minibus parking. The Barn at Ilderton Dod Barns, which sleeps 1-6 people, is available for August Bank Holiday. This ties in well, if you have any interest in farming because we’ll be making hay, and Glendale Show is held in Wooler on the bank holiday Monday – this is regarded as the county show of the north, and one of the last of the season. There are beautiful, quiet Northumbrian beaches just 15 miles away.
