Roasting chestnuts over the campfire….yum! Shining Cliff hostel is located off-road, in the heart of Shining Cliff woods, an ancient woodland that is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
There are many coppiced Chestnut trees in the woods, and quite a few on the half mile footpath from the private woodland car park to the hostel, and in the autumn time the path is littered with chestnuts that are perfect for roasting over the campfire in the stunning hostel fire pit area.

Are you planning a DofE expedition or an educational field trip? Did you know that we offer a 10% discount for all* educational bookings? Our bunkhouse lies alongside the Beacons Way long distance footpath in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. We have a large projector screen and flipchart/whiteboard/pens (if required) and plenty of space for minibus parking. We can sleep up to 20, with 2 or 4 in each bedroom (6 bedrooms available), and we have flexibility to provide a separate bathroom for staff use.

Chapel Gallery Bunkhouse is in a perfect location in Hawes, about 50 metres off the Pennine Way, and a 5 min stroll to the nearest pub. So if you want a roof over your head for the night, then get in contact – a phone call, knock at the door or a quick message to me. Comfy beds, free Wi-Fi, a brilliant drying room and good showers will leave you refreshed for the next day. We have a key safe, so no worries if you arrive late, or need to leave early.

August Bank Holdiay in Northumberland National Park
The Barn at Ilderton Dod Barns, which sleeps 1-6 people, is available for August Bank Holiday. This ties in well, if you have any interest in farming because we’ll be making hay, and Glendale Show is held in Wooler on the bank holiday Monday – this is regarded as the county show of the north, and one of the last of the season. There are beautiful, quiet Northumbrian beaches just 15 miles away.
