Our magnificent 16th century barn offers a ‘somewhere different’ accommodation base for new learning experiences. Bring your school to take part in outdoor adventure, eco-challenges, history and archaeology (Tudor & WWII), environmental studies, wildlife courses and general activities for schools.
Cowes Base Camp is located at UKSA, a charitable organisation and leading watersports centre for school residentials. AALA Licenced with accreditation for activities, it provides full risk assessments and has been awarded the LOtC Quality badge. It prides itself on giving students the opportunity to learn and achieve qualifications while taking part in activities. The Base Camp is directly on the waterfront and has accommodation for 300, flexible catering options, a canteen, an indoor heated swimming pool and sports hall.
This hostel hosts some adventure companies and would be glad to talk to any teachers who would like to try it out for a school group. Just three miles from St Ives & 5 miles from Penzance. The hostel provides self-catering accommodation with four twin rooms, one alpine dormitory for 12, and a self-contained maisonette. BYO sleeping bags.
Lon Dryll offers comfortable and affordable accommodation for school groups of between 10-30. It is secluded; down a private drive with a large car park and grassy areas for the kids to play. Facilities include a classroom/games room , large kitchen, dining room, drying room and lounge. The bedrooms are split between two buildings with provision for separate leaders’ rooms. The bunk house sleeps 17 in 4 rooms of mainly bunk beds, the main house sleeps 13 in 3 rooms of double and single beds.

Roasting chestnuts over the campfire….yum! Shining Cliff hostel is located off-road, in the heart of Shining Cliff woods, an ancient woodland that is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
There are many coppiced Chestnut trees in the woods, and quite a few on the half mile footpath from the private woodland car park to the hostel, and in the autumn time the path is littered with chestnuts that are perfect for roasting over the campfire in the stunning hostel fire pit area.
Come and enjoy the Tudor Barn and escape the Bank Holiday traffic! Situated down a quiet farm lane, you don’t need to go anywhere … we’ll unpack a supermarket delivery for free to await your arrival, enjoy a barbecue with croquet in the herb garden, potter around the farm trails and picnic by a pond, hop on one of our many adult road bikes and head to one of the excellent pubs for a locally brewed pint.
Book a bank holiday break at the Old Brooder bunkhouse which sleeps 22 guests. Explore the quiet country lanes of Suffolk on our fleet of adult road bikes (included in the price), barbecue, croquet, enjoy the farm trails, or picnic on the farm. For smaller groups do enquire giving as much detail as possible.
Wild Valley Huts Bunkhouse is close to fabulous historic and National Trust sites. Children will love to explore… Chirk Castle – The Adam Tower, complete with dungeons, medieval toilets and murder holes. Run off some energy in the natural play area. Powis Castle – Explore the rooms of the 13th-century castle & follow the garden trail, guaranteed to delight children. Erddig Hall – Large, wooded play area, nestled in Big Wood with rope swing, stepping logs, and a den-building area.
Ilfracombe is the ideal location for a school residential. and Ocean Backpackers, close to Ilfracombe Harbour, can be booked for exclusive use any time of year! It has 38 beds spread across dorms and leaders rooms. A local caterer can provide quality value evening meals and packed lunches and we can introduce you to activity providers. Perfect for Geography, Geology, Biology and Marine Biology field trips.
Are you planning a DofE expedition or an educational field trip? Did you know that we offer a 10% discount for all* educational bookings? Our bunkhouse lies alongside the Beacons Way long distance footpath in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park. We have a large projector screen and flipchart/whiteboard/pens (if required) and plenty of space for minibus parking. We can sleep up to 20, with 2 or 4 in each bedroom (6 bedrooms available), and we have flexibility to provide a separate bathroom for staff use.
