Elterwater Hostel is near two fantastic pubs
The village of Elterwater boasts one of the oldest pubs the “Britannia Inn” which has an ever changing selection of amazing locally brewed beers. The other local pub is the “Wainwright Inn” which is just a short walk along the river towards Chapel Stile. We have 15 en suite rooms
That’s right, 15 of our bedrooms have en suite bathrooms so however many you are sharing a bedroom and the hostel with, there won’t be massive ques to use the bathroom thanks to the en suites.

We have been busy of late adding en suite bathrooms to six of our rooms. We know, now more than ever, that having your own space can be very important, which is why we added en-suites to some of our rooms to give you the privacy that you are looking for.

Those that want a bit more privacy and luxury from their stay in our Chalet-style accommodation can book one of our private rooms with en-suite bathrooms. The private rooms have double beds, making them perfect for couples.

Situated in the North West Highlands, our private room (the House Room) is a former B&B which we turned into private hostel accommodation in 2020. It comes with its own ensuite and access to a lovely garden which is sure to put a smile on anyones face.
Log Burners everywhere
We have log burners in all of our accommodation buildings. So no matter where you choose to stay with us you can relax and warm yourself by the fire. We think it’s the best way to heat a room and if you don’t get the chance to use one at home we highly recommend you give it a try, especially in winter.
Cosy evenings by the fire
The lounge is the perfect place to relax by yourself or with friends. After a day in the foothills of Snowdonia, gather around the log burner and relax, joke, or tell stories as the evening turns to night.
Warm yourself by the fire after a day in the Cairngorms
We are well aware that the Cairngorms are not the most tropical place on Earth and during winter it can get a little chilly. Well, here at Fraoch Lodge you warm yourself up in the best way possible, a natural fire in our log burner. Settle down on a comfy sofa and let the warmth wash over you and relax for the evening and share stories and jokes with your fellow guests.

Here at Carrs, we are fully self-sufficient, our electricity come from solar power and wind turbines and our heating comes from an eco wood burning stove. You can enjoy the beauty of the North Pennines all year round, warmed by the fire during the colder months, all while safe in the knowledge that you aren’t hurting our planet.
