Circle 15th March in your diary, the Glenfinnan Sleeping Car is finally back operating as a hostel.
Since the pandemic in 2020, the Sleeping Car had been rented (when lockdowns allowed) as a whole carriage, self-catering property. Gone were the days of walkers dropping in for a one-night stay in a compartment in this quirky hostel.
New operators Ally and Mark are delighted that once again they are able to open as a hostel, taking the Sleeping Car back to its original, hostel roots.
The hills are alive with the sounds of Curlews, Lapwings, Oyster Catchers and Golden Plovers returning to the moors to make their nests and raise their young! From early March The North Pennines is a superb place for seeing these spectacular birds in abundance.
