Formerly Steps Bridge Youth Hostel on Dartmoor, Devon.

Blytheswood is set in secluded, ancient woodland on the eastern edge of Dartmoor National Park. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, surrounded by Woodland Trust and National Trust woodland, and neighbouring Dunsford Nature Reserve.

The woods are home to horseshoe bats, pied flycatchers, hazel dormice, wood ants, badgers and deer. The area is renowned for its wild daffodils in early spring, along with bluebells, wood anemones and wild garlic.

Two cosy, self-catering spaces are available: The Nest sleeps two in a double bed and has an outdoor kitchen, shower and bathroom, plus a shared outdoor fire area where you can sit and star gaze.

The Cabin sleeps two in a double bed and has a pull out bed for a child. It has a kitchenette, eating area, en suite toilet, outdoor shower, outdoor seating area and use of the shared fire area.

An extra fold out bed or travel cot is available if required.

Heated, beautiful and functional spaces with woodland views from every window, adult and kids alike will relish the adventure of sleeping in the middle of woods with birds and animals as neighbours.

A family-run business, you'll find Blytheswood friendly and peaceful. A place to switch off, relax and breathe in the woodland. Walk straight from the door up through the woods to Heltor and Blackingstone Rock, or along the River Teign valley towards Fingle Bridge and Castle Drogo. Cross the stepping stones to Dunsford village with its Post Office, shop and pub, or visit nearby Moretonhampstead and Chagford for lots of independent shops and places to eat.

For cyclists, Blytheswood is on the LEJOG cycling route and you can cycle along the river and through the woods.

An ideal base from which to explore the open moor and see wild ponies, visit the cathedral city of Exeter, and the beaches of South Devon. The surrounding National Trust woodland and nature reserve are rich in wild flowers, butterflies and birds, and home to badgers, deer and otters.
