Perched on the coast, with the Atlantic Ocean on the doorstep, Skern Adventure Appledore is one of two leading adventure centres in North Devon, offering residential programmes for schools and groups, plus Summer family holidays with the option of outdoor activities.

Ideal for schools, corporate groups, youth organisations, and other groups, residential stays are simple to organise with lots of help from the experienced booking team. A wide range of outdoor activities is available, delivered by qualified instructors who focus on teamwork, resilience, and personal achievement.

Summer Holiday accommodation can be booked online for dates from April 2027.

Accommodation options cater to a variety of needs, from private hostel-style rooms with shared washrooms to comfortable ensuite guest rooms. All beds are fully made up and ready for your arrival, and some rooms can accommodate up to nine guests - ideal for families or small groups.

On-site facilities include Wi-Fi, central heating, and outdoor patio areas. Guests can also enjoy the on-site café and a heated, lifeguarded swimming pool, available to book for private use.

The surrounding area has excellent pubs and cafés, so guests can enjoy some of North Devon’s finest local produce during their stay. Skern Adventure also operates a bike hire centre in Bideford, located on the banks of the River Torridge with direct access to the popular Tarka Trail - perfect for exploring the local area.

Flexible camping options, insulated glamping pods, and campervan stays are also available, all on the beautiful North Devon coastline.

The Skern Adventure residential programme combines accommodation with on-site and off-site activities to deliver high-quality outdoor education. We tailor each programme to your school’s needs, working with you before and during your stay to ensure your learning objectives are met.
