Luxury Group Hostel at Historic Kingussie Station in the Cairngorms
Experience a unique blend of heritage and comfort at The Railway Rooms, a luxury hostel-style retreat designed for groups of up to 24 guests. Nestled within beautifully restored Victorian railway station buildings, each private ensuite room features twin, double, or king beds. Located right on the platform of Kingussie Station in the Cairngorms National Park, these characterful spaces let you enjoy the nostalgic charm of passing trains with a breathtaking mountain backdrop. Time your stay just right, and you might even catch the magic of a steam train gliding by.
As Kingussie Station is still in active use, your group can easily arrive by train—no lifts or taxis required. The station sits on the Perth–Inverness line, with convenient connections to London, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.
Kingussie itself is a charming Highland town with everything you need within walking distance—independent shops, cosy cafés, welcoming pubs, and local eateries. Surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of the Cairngorms, it’s an ideal base for outdoor adventures. Whether you're into hillwalking, climbing, winter sports, canoeing, kayaking, cycling, mountain biking, or simply soaking in the scenery—or perhaps sampling local whisky—you’ll find yourself in one of Scotland’s premier destinations for nature and activity.
Opened in 2024, The Railway Rooms have been renovated to an exceptional standard. The fully equipped kitchen provides everything needed for group self-catering, while the adjoining open-plan lounge and dining area is light, spacious, and full of character, featuring a high-beamed ceiling, long dining tables, and comfortable sofas gathered around a log-burning stove. It’s the perfect setting for group celebrations, team-building retreats, music-making, or simply unwinding after a day outdoors.
Outside enjoy an outside seating area with bbq. And for the cyclists among you there is a bike wash a secure bike shed.
Additional services such as catering, guided outdoor activities, and team development workshops with facilitation kits are available on request.
