Llansteffan is a beautiful, quaint village set at the tip of the Towi River and Carmarthen Bay. The sandy beaches nestled below the castle offer swimming and relaxation. The virtually traffic free country lanes make this area ideal for cycling. For the walker we are on the Wales Coastal Path. Carmarthen, Wales’ oldest city and ancestral home to Merlin of King Arthur’s legends, offers most social and cultural activities. The Pantyrathro International Hostel provides dorm accommodation, private rooms, and also has 3 new en suite units of 6, 9 and 12 beds. Facilities include self-catering kitchen, dining area, TV lounge, showers and free WiFi. Our two Mexican bars offer pool, darts, TV, weekly drink specials and food (eat-in or take-out). Horse riding and excursions for trekking, canoeing and surfing offered. Pantyrathro is six miles from Carmarthen on the B4312, midway between Llangain and Llansteffan. Two miles from Llangain you will see the hostel signposted, turn right and follow hostel signs to top of lane.
Carmarthen has both coach and train stations serving South Wales, SW England and London. Local bus runs six times a day to Llansteffan. Ask driver to let you off at Pantyrathro.

Cockles have been collected at Llansteffan for centuries. Gathered by local people and sold to Sunday school outings arriving by charabang in the summer. At the moment the cockle population is healthy but all cockle gathering, is prohibited until June 1st. If open after that date then the limit for pleasure pickers will be 8kg per day per person.
