Welcoming individuals, families, and groups to the delightful Georgian market-town of Ashbourne

Ashbourne Gateway Centre is currently undergoing a major twelve-month renovation creating new en-suite bedrooms and communal areas. We are planning a soft opening in April 2026, and the hostel will be fully open as from 1st May 2026.

We are now taking enquires for up to 35 people for exclusive use of the whole hostel. In the Autumn, our booking diary will be opened for groups of all sizes. Our new kitchen and communal areas are large enough for the hostel to simultaneously accommodate two groups.

The new hostel will offer 7 new modern en suite bedrooms with bunk beds.

Ashbourne Gateway is located in the centre of the delightful Georgian market town of Ashbourne. Less than 1.5 hours drive from Manchester, Sheffield, Leicester and Birmingham, it is the perfect base for exploring the landscape and all the attractions of the Peak District National Park.

The Tissington Trail, a multi-user, level, off-road route along a former railway starts just opposite the Centre and links to many miles of off-road routes including the High Peak Trail and the Pennine Bridleway. Carsington Water with it's fishing, watersports, visitor centre, huge play area, cycle hire and off road cycle/walking trail is just a few miles down the road. While for climbers the Roaches, a famous gritstone escarpment, is also close by. For the young at heart Alton Towers is just a few miles away.
Ashbourne Gateway Centre is closed for refurbishment, re-opening in Spring 2026. The new Centre will welcome individuals, families, and groups. There will be 7 ensuite bedrooms & 2 apartments (sleeping 42 in total), self-catering kitchen, dining/lounge area, drying room & bike storage. The Tissington Trail off-road cycle/walking route starts opposite. Carsington Water, The Roaches & Alton Towers are all close by.

Update on Rebuilding Plans

September 5th 2024

The rooms have been emptied of furniture and a building contractor is in the final stage of being engaged. Here is our new room layout, which creates an option for bedroom hire to individuals, families and smaller groups that are willing to share the kitchen and living areas, as well as exclusive hire to groups. We don’t know precisely when the Centre will reopen, watch this space where we will provide online booking as soon as we are ready to start taking bookings for 2026. Keep an eye on our social media channels and website where we will be posting photos as the building work progresses.

The floor plan shows the change from 6 bedrooms to 7 smaller bedrooms each with en-suite.

The bedrooms will contain bunk beds allowing up to 34 beds in the main building and up to a further 10 beds in two adjacent apartments.

The makeover plans include:-
• New reception area and new garden entrance
• Small family sized bedrooms sleeping 2 – 6 people
• All bedrooms have private en-suite
• Communal living, kitchen and dining spaces
• Boot room and drying area for wet walking or cycle gear
• Laundry
• Secure cycle storage
