The cove at Cwmtydu is one of the finest wild swimming spots on the Ceredigion coast. Clean water, a sandy and pebbled beach, a river pool where the Afon Ffynnon Ddewi meets the sea, and very rarely anyone else in it.
The seals tend to be curious about swimmers, which either delights or slightly unnerves people, depending on their disposition.
Ty Cwch is right above the beach — architect-designed, Green Tourism Gold accredited, sleeping up to 12. Hot showers after a cold swim. A proper kitchen. A firepit for the evening.
There are more wild swimming spots within easy reach: Penbryn, Carreg-y-ty (find it if you can), and the beaches north toward Aberaeron.
