Take a Dip While at the Ludlow Mascall Centre

river teme ludlow ideal for wild swimming

Ludlow locals have enjoyed swimming in the River Teme for many years, and in 2024, a stretch of the river was awarded Bathing Water Status by DEFRA. Walk due west from the Mascall Centre, through the heart of the medieval market town and around the castle to arrive at Millennium Green beach.

From here, the best spots for wild swimming are upriver, above the weir towards the pontoon at the Linney, and downriver towards Dinham Bridge. While you relax in the cool, calm water, enjoy majestic views of the Norman castle and watch for a variety of wildlife, including kingfishers, swans, cygnets, ducks and otters.

After your swim, stop for something to eat or drink at one of Ludlow’s many restaurants, cafes, and pubs, or pick up some tasty ingredients at the market or one of the independent food shops and prepare a meal in our fully equipped residents kitchen and enjoy it in our dining area or courtyard garden.
