Beach, coast and town of Freshwater by in Isle of Wight National Landscape

The Isle of Wight is a rural island with a long history as a seaside family holiday resort. The north of the island retains its traditional pattern of woodlands, fields and hedgerows, which is in contrast with the open grazed chalk downs. The island is also a popular yachting centre, focused on Cowes and Yarmouth. Cowes Base Camp is a watersports centre. It offers catered holidays by the sea with optional activities for families and groups of all sizes. There are seven long-distance trails to walk and the coast path to explore.
