Walks with your dog: Walking trails local to Earby Holiday Hostel

This is our lovely hostel dog Bramble taking a breather at the top of Skiddaw during a recent trip. Although the Lake District is completely beautiful and such a special place, it got us thinking about the merits of the Yorkshire Dales, Bowland Forest and other local walks with or without your dog. You don’t always need to travel as far North as the Lake District for dramatic landscapes and beautiful views.

🌳The Pennine Way goes directly past our hostel. So you can jump on the route pretty much from the doorstep.
🌿The Yorkshire Three Peaks – usually completed as a challenge in under 24 hours. This route encompasses Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres).
🐢Malham Cove – This 70m limestone cliff has amazed walkers for generations.
🌾The Pendle Way – The Pendle Way is a 45 mile circular walk split into eight distinct sections. These sections have treats galore awaiting for those doing the route, including famous “lairs” of the Pendle Witches in Newchurch, as well as one of the Brontes favourite spots, Wycoller, site of the “Spectral Horseman”. Waterfalls, moors, ancient churches, and hills with views to die for all populate this remarkable route.
🌹Two Toms Walk – The Two Toms Walk is a linear walk from Whalley to Colne. It Celebrates two campaigners for access to the countryside -Tom Stephenson, the creator of the Pennine Way and Thomas A.Leonard, pioneer of cheap outdoor holidays and pastor in Colne.
🦆Leeds Liverpool Canal – maybe not as dramatic as the other routes, the Leeds Liverpool canal has other merits. It is a brilliant insight into the social history of the the area. 127 miles of walking, boating or cycling.
🌼 The Lancashire Way (Eastern Loop) – created by Neil Harwood, a born and bred Lancashire man, the Lancashire Loop aims to show off the beauty and breadth of the county to give you a true appreciation of way Lancashire has to offer.
