…comfortable accommodation and a whole range of activities ..
I’ve often cycled past Thornbridge Hall, near Bakewell, home of Thornbridge Outdoors, and thought it looked super. My family and I have cycled the rewarding Monsal Trail (one of those old-railway-lines-turned-into-cycleways) many times. It’s a lovely 8 mile easy run up to Blackwell Mill with an ice cream at Miller’s Dale. There’s an old railway station where we sometimes sit to catch our breath, Thornbridge is just there.
There’s the gorgeous old hall itself, spreading its wings wide like paternal protective arms, and the old Farm House as well as the newly built Woodlands and the thoroughly modern Lodge. These last three are the residential bases of Thornbridge outdoor and you can hire some or all of them for your group. Woodlands and Lodge offer fully accessible wheelchair accommodation.
The bread and butter of Thornbridge is big groups using it as a base for courses: School groups tasting adventure; Young people on Duke Of Edinburgh’s awards; Adult outdoor groups; corporate activities. Accredited and informal training is offered including climbing, canoeing, mountain biking – many of which include qualifications and certification.
Of course we’re right in the Peak District here, so as well as the Monsal Trail, you’ve got easy access to the ‘edges’ of Froggat and Stanage; all the wonderful walking and cycling; and some great cave systems too.
If you’re looking for a base for group activities, Thornbridge Outdoor have modern, professional and comfortable accommodation and a whole range of activities on offer.
