This area has some of the best road cycling in Scotland on quiet roads with some views justifiably amongst the best Scotland. The Touro the Borders Sportif has helped promote this area with its famous ride the Talla Classic on closed roads , but the cycling can be enjoyed on virtually traffic free roads all year round with just you and the open road. Its an addictive experience the back drop is stunning.
While mountain bikers go all giddy for the huge network of trails in the hills and forests all around, road cyclists get equally excited about riding on some spectacularly scenic and quiet roads that, for good reason, have hosted several stages of the Tour of Britain.
Even just a quick glance at a map will highlight a range of routes that to suit every level of rider. There are plenty of classics for you to ride, too. The area is hilly but most of the gradients are long and gradual so suit riders of all abilities and taking your time to see the views is all part of the experience. For less experienced riders the Tweed Valley Railway path is a fantastic flat ride beside the Tweed for all the family and used to link rides starting in Peebles.
Cleikum Mill has bike facilities aimed to help riders life easy and the High St provides selection of cafes, eateries and pubs/restaurants for yiu to replenish those calories. Relax in our spacious building in the evening if you want to record the Tour De France feet up with a local beer from the brewery/tap room a stroll away.
