No wrestling in the wind and rain with tents, just park up next to the barn, unload and you are sorted

Are you considering a camping holiday this month in the Peak District but are put off by the unpredictable weather. Don’t be, because at Alstonefield Camping Barn you get the best of both worlds, back to basics camping but in the comfort of a dry barn with cosy woodburner should it turn chilly in the evening. For added comfort the washroom with toilet and handbasin is inside the barn with no need to venture outside to another building. You can even bring the dog too, free of charge.

With breath-taking views in all directions and dale walks from the door it is the perfect retreat for families, friends, walking and cycling groups and couples just wanting to get away from it all.

However, being located on the Derbyshire/Staffordshire border there is just so much to do on your doorstep. The village of Hartington with its own cheese shop, cafes, pubs etc is only 4 miles away and Chatsworth House, Carsington Water and Alton Towers are all within easy reach. Great venue for both cyclists (Manifold Cycle Trail just down the road) and climbers (Roaches Rocks a short drive away).

The villages of Alstonefield, Wetton and Hulme end are all around a mile to a mile and a half away and all have pubs doing good food. The Royal Oak at Wetton welcomes dogs and children! The Manifold Hotel at Hulme End often does Campers Breakfasts and the George at Alstonefield is a gastro pub. There are lovely tea rooms in Wetton and at the Manifold Junction at Hulme End.
