The YHA are abandoning many of their more remote and simple places.
Alstonefield Camping Barn, at Gateham Grange in the Peak District, has been part of the YHA’s network of camping barns for 17 years. Located on a working farm on the Staffordshire / Derbyshire border, the barn provides simple accommodation for walkers and cyclists close to Dovedale and the Manifold Valley. Only a few months ago the YHA declared that, together with many camping barns and simple hostels, Alstonefield camping barn would not be part of the YHA network from the end of February 2017. Not to be discouraged the owners have made the decision to continue to operate, providing accommodation to all who seeking adventure in the great outdoors. Alstonefield Camping Barn will continue to welcome families (small children love the freedom of a camping barn), Duke of Edinburgh participants, walkers, cyclists, schools and scout groups.
