OverviewLocated on a working farm near Alstonefield on the Derbyshire/Staffordshire border, Alstonefield camping barn is near Dovedale, the Manifold Valley, Hartington, Leek and Ashbourne. A perfect base to visit Alton Towers or spend the day exploring the wonderful White Peak landscape. Great for quiet parties (but not stag and hen parties), group get-togethers or team building events. The barn welcomes families and is great for childrens sleepover parties with a spacious upstairs room for games. The barn is close to Manifold and Tissington off road trails for cyclists, Ramshaw Rocks for climbers and for those who enjoy water sports the barn is 20 minutes drive from Carsington Water. Also ideal for walkers, school, DofE and Scouts. Perfect for star gazers! This is camping in the comfort of a remote cosy barn with unrivalled views. You need to bring usual camping equipment including camping mats or blow up air bed, sleeping bags, cooking stove and fuel, pots and pans, crockery and cutlery. As there is no electricity in the barn you will also need to bring torches and flat safety night/tea light candles and logs for the WOODBURNING STOVE. Unfortunately a shower is not provided, but the washroom (with fully plumbed in toilet and hand wash basin) is in the barn itself and its much better than camping in the respect that you do not have to venture outside or go to a different building to use the wc. Self catering holiday cottages are also available at Gateham Grange. Dogs welcome with prior arrangement.

March 4th 2021
This camping barn has so much potential for a nature loving group. Away from all the stress and crowds, in the picturesque manifold valley. Close to lovely wonders such as Thors cave and Dovedale. All being well Alstonefield would love to help you reconnect with nature this easter.
For a more back to basics trip break Alstonefield ticks all the boxes. Affordable, in a great location and suitable for groups. Whether a rabble of walkers looking for a simple place to rest for the evening or a group of wildlife photographers looking for a place to immerse yourself in nature. The barn is basic with no electricity, but it does sport a wood burning stove to keep you toasty in the evenings. Again you’ll have to bring your own cooking equipment, but then there is an award winning pub very close by… While it has been a difficult year Alstonefield would like to welcome you back, when allowed for a calm and relaxing weekend away.
