It is with a heavy heart I have had to make the difficult decision today to further delay the reopening of the hostel until at least the end of August 2020. I hope guests new and old understand this difficult decision I have had to make in such unprecedented times.
Under Government guidelines, tourist hostels can reopen on 15 July 2020. However, as much as we look forward to welcoming guests, due to the nature of the virus, as a precautionary measure within such a small rural community, we have decided to delay our opening until end of August 2020.
In anticipation, Helmsdale Hostel has achieved the ‘Good to Go’ Covid-19 Industry Standard. This offers a degree of confidence not only to visitors and communities but also to staff. All rooms at Helmsdale Hostel are en-suite and the general layout of the former school gymnasium building offers plenty of space to social distance. There is also a large garden area where you can relax and enjoy the fresh air breeze from the sea!
