This was one of those moments! We spent a gorgeous afternoon discovering the Berwyn Ridge; walking from Cwm Maengwynedd, taking in the stunning Berwyn Ridge to Cadair Berwyn. The blue skies & good visibility were on our side it was absolutely phenomenal, with views to snowdonia! Although the Berwyn Mountains are lower than peaks in Snowdonia, the Berwyns are rugged, have distinctive character and are worth exploring! Cadair Berwyn is the highest point in this range of mountains.

When we arrived at the summit of Cadair Berwyn, we had a great discovery – a chair! In the cairn, there is a resourcefully made chair. It faces directly into the sunlight, has a huge smooth stone for the seat and is positioned with the most amazing vista views. The chair will be waiting there for you when you get there. A way to recharge before continuing on your route and it was a comfy seat to take in the views.

It’s close to the well known Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall that you can include in a route, aswell as Moel Sych, Llyn Lluncaws and Cadair Bronwen. The opportunities for routes are endless. For exploring & discovery, the Berwyns are your oyster! And where better a place to stay than The Wild Valley Bunkhouse?
