Gilfach Wen is a great base for exploring the immediate farm, the local area and South West Wales.
On the farm there is a field especially reserved for activities organised by guests, from summer BBQs, cricket and rounders to hiring giant inflatables and reenactment groups and live play gamers such as dungeon and dragons. The field is your oyster!
In the local area, there is plenty to explore, either by food, bike or horse! Such as Brecha Forest, Brecha Forest garden and Llanllwni Mountain.
In South West Wales there is Beacon National Park which is overflowing with walking and cycle routes just waiting to be explored. There is also lots of hidden treasures nestled within Beacon National Park such as;
Hay on Wye, a historical market town famous for how many second hand book stores it has. It is fondly referred to as “book town” and every year it hosts an annual book fair that celebrates everything book related!
National Showcave Centre for wales; an unforgettable day out for all the family. With three huge caves to explore; Dan yr Ogof Cave, Cathedral Cave and Bone Cave each interesting and unique in their own way. There is also one of the world’s largest award-winning dinosaur parks with over 220 life sized dinosaurs. Get up close and personal with the prehistoric monsters of the past!
Pembrokshire is only a short car ride away. World famous for its dazzling, picture perfect beaches and unique rock formations. There is plenty to do in Pembrokshire for the whole family such as;
Visit Tenby, a historical town favoured by the Victorians becuase they believed the sea air had magic healing properties. Tenby’s Castle Beach was awarded ‘Britain’s Best Beach 2019’ by the Sunday Times.
Apparently, coasteering was invented along the coast of Pembrokshire. This is easy to believe because nothing sounds more inviting that jumping into crystal clear waters and and scrambling across rocks and exploring caves and rockpools. Remember to only coasteer with experienced and qualified coasteering groups.
