Hillside Farm provides accommodation close to the Solway Firth.  Here you can see flocks of  tens of thousands of Barnacle and Pink Footed Geese as the leave the Solway Firth to return to their breeding grounds. The local tradition of fishing for Salmon and Sea Trout with Haaf Nets can still sometimes be seen out on the mud flats. Finglandrigg wood nature resevere and Drumburgh Moss nature reserve are closeby where you can sometimes see Red Squirrel and Roe Deer.  Visit the Campfield Farm RSPB Reserve at Bowness on Solwayand for bird watching opportunities.
