Eco-Friendly Holidays & Sustainability, Ty Cwch: Green Tourism Gold on the Welsh Coast
We built Ty Cwch to tread lightly. Shipping containers clad in Larch. Upcycled materials inside. Insulated pods heated efficiently. Sail-like canopies that work with the weather, not against it.
Our Green Tourism Gold award recognizes accommodation that takes environmental responsibility seriously. We’re also Visit Wales Innovation Award winners for sustainable design that actually works for guests.

The location itself encourages low-impact travel. Arrive by bus on the Cardi Bach service between Cardigan and New Quay. Walk the Welsh Coast Path right from the door. Cycle the Ceredigion coastal route. Explore this beautiful corner of Cardigan Bay without needing a car once you’re here.
The boathouse works for groups who care about where they stay. Three sleeping pods house four bunks each, all heated and insulated. Communal spaces include a well-equipped kitchen, dining area, lounge and outdoor deck. Washing facilities mean you can pack light and wash as you go.
Cwmtydu is a quiet valley where noise travels. We ask guests to keep it down from 10pm. The beach, walking, wildlife watching, water sports – there’s plenty to do that doesn’t disturb this special place.
Local instructors offer guided activities. Da Mhile distillery nearby makes botanical gin using local ingredients. Wild Pickings runs foraging courses. Support local, stay sustainable.
