Overview

The Vagabond is an independent bunkhouse/hostel, situated in the centre of the village of Betws y Coed, within the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. Created and designed for individuals, families or groups, this unique bunkhouse is extremely well equipped, sleeping a total of 36 in spacious comfortable rooms of 4, 6, and 8, all with clean fresh linen, duvets and personal reading lamps. Self catering facilities with complimentary tea and coffee in a large well equipped kitchen. Seriously hot showers, freshly cooked food for individuals or groups who do not wish to prepare their own and a great bar for entertainment. Free WiFi, outdoor climbing wall, power wash for mountain bikes, heated individual secure dog kennels and a host of other fantastic facilities makes this the perfect base camp for climbers, walkers, mountain bikers, paddlers and adventure seekers. Stay here and explore and appreciate this area of outstanding recreation and beauty.

    The hostel is situated on Ffordd Craiglan which is a lane that runs off the A5 about 300 yards from the village centre. Hostel is 40 yards up Craiglan.
  • Public Transport:

    Betws-y-Coed Station is 50 yards from the hostel. Buses stop on the A5 (London to Holyhead road) within easy walking distance.

This accommodation allows dogs by arrangement, is near mountains, is in a National Park, is available to individuals and has a pub within walking distance. It is on the Re-opening for Summer 2020 page, a dark sky area and the Slate Trail.

The Vagabond Bunkhouse in the village of Betws-y-Coed at the heart of Snowdonia National Park, is OPEN Autumn Winter 2020

This very well appointed bunkhouse has ready made up beds, free hot drinks and seriously hot showers. There is a Pizza restaurant on site (notice required). Outside there’s a climbing wall, a power wash & heated dog kennels!

VAGABOND BUNKHOUSE & BAR. COVID 19 STATEMENT.
The safety and wellbeing of our guests and team has always been incredibly important to us and everyone at the Vagabond should rightly expect a safe, clean and protected environment.

Here’s what we’re doing to keep you and our team safe:
Checking-in and social distancing
Minimising contact and increasing protection at reception.
Guests will need to inform the Vagabond of their arrival time. 01690 710850.
Guests must not arrive at the Vababond if they are displaying any symptom of Covid19.
On arrival all guest must take a temperature test, which will be conducted by a member of staff.
Sanitiser stations are at the entrance and throughout the building.
Shower block.
Guests will be allocated times to use the shower facilities. The shower block will be cleaned after each shower booking.
Breakfast
Guests will be allocated breakfast table times. Tables etc will be disinfected after every sitting.
Pizza evening meals.
Tables and pizza orders must be pre booked one week prior to arrival. The menu is on our web site and orders can be emailed to us on admin@thevagabond.co.uk. All drinks and food will be brought to your table by a member of the Vagabond team.
Kitchen
The Vagabond kitchen is not now accessible to our guests. So, at present we cannot offer self catering facilities.
Housekeeping
More frequent cleaning of high-touch areas, such as check-in, door handles and handrails with Diversey-approved disinfectants to the European standard of EN14476, effective against COVID-19. In the dorms, we’re paying special attention too.
Bed linen.
Laundering all our linen at over 60 degrees, with disinfectant detergent so you can enjoy a safe and great night’s sleep.
Protective equipment for our teams
To protect our team members we’ve provided them with PPE equipment including gloves and hand sanitiser. Whilst there is no government guidance on the need to wear face masks in a accommodation setting, our team have been provided with face masks, empowering them with the choice if they wish to wear them.

The 2019 Snowdonia Challenge takes place in Betws-y-Coed from 28 -30 June 2019. This 3 day walking event covering 100km is not for the faint hearted. Vagabond Bunkhouse in Betws-y-Coed is your ideal low cost, friendly accommodation.

Snowdonia Challenge is a test of mental and physical resilience and team work and will take you on a journey of self discovery. It is inspired by multi-day challenges used as military training events in Europe.The first Snowdonia Challenge was held in Betws-y-Coed, North Wales in 2017. The perfect base to explore some of the less visited parts of Snowdonia with some of the best views the national park has to offer.This is not just about challenge and adventure though.

Come on your own or come as a team; taking part in the Snowdonia Challenge you will be part of an amazing 3 days where you will make new friends and explore parts of Snowdonia you’ve never been before.

Full event – 3 day walking event – 100km over 3 days. Or if you’d like to be a part of it but can’t commit to the full 3 days then just walk for for 1 or 2 days.
