Wigwams on a working farm.

Wigwams on a working farm.

The mod-est of cons steeped in a true camping vibe.

Glancing through the social media of Strathfillan Wigwam Village, its clear that it is definitely a working farm.  There are pictures of their pigs, baby rabbits, cats and chickens. As its also within the Trossachs National Park and right near Loch Lomond you’ll be unsurprised to hear about the wooded mountains and the majestic water studded with islands. So, all the time you’ll be immersed in nature both tamed and unfettered.

But your interest has been peaked by that phrase ‘wigwam village’; right now you’re clicking on a link to their website to find out more.

Ok? Are you back? Did you see that a wigwam is a sort of modern log cabin with all the mod-est of cons yet steeped in a true camping vibe? Did you also spot the pictures of people cooking over open campfires? That’s a rare treat in today’s campsites. Another rare treat is Strathfillan’s selection of sausages to fry on your fire:  wild boar, ostrich, kangaroo, venison or if you’re feeling adventurous, go for the camel or zebra steaks! Just another way to enjoy the wildlife.
