It sits directly on Wainwright's Coast to Coast path, the Westmorland Way and the Miller's Way, which makes it ideal for walking and cycling. The Howgills and the Pennine Fells are also only a short distance away.

The route from Patterdale to Shap is 16 miles and usually takes about 6-8 hours. You will be rewarded at the end of your day with a night at New Ing Lodge.

There’s an on-site bar, which is perfect for unwinding and sharing stories with fellow travellers. For your evening meal there are take-aways and eateries just down the road.
