OverviewMid Wales bunkhouse is affordable, warm and comfortable, accommodating individuals or groups in outstanding rural surroundings close to the Elan Valley, Wye Valley, Trans Cambrian Trail, Glyndwrs Way and Cycle Routes 8 and 81. Lots of circular walks and rides from the door and the Cambrian mountains to the west make the location ideal for walkers, mountain bikers, cyclists, riders, bird watchers, fishermen, trekkers and more. Fully equipped for self-catering or meals available if arranged in advance. Outside covered veranda and secluded garden with barbeque and pizza oven. Access to River Marteg where otters and many bird species have been spotted. Covered cycle storage. B&B for horses by arrangement. Camping and tipi available with special rates for combined bookings. Public Transport:Trains at Llandrindod Wells/Newtown. NE coach to Llanidloes. Buses from Llandrindod to Rhayader and limited service to St. Harmon and Pant Y Dwr. We can collect from Llandrindod, Llanidloes or Newtown by arrangement.

We had a brilliant few days in this un-visited part of Wales, all thank to our hosts at Mid Wales Bunkhouse who made us so welcome in their haven and took the time to pass on local knowledge about what to do. The Mid Wales Bunkhouse is located at Woodhouse Farm, midway between Rhayader and Llanidloes, close to the villages of St. Harmon and Pant Y Dwr. The surrounding countryside is splendidly wild and ideal for exlporing in winter by footpath, bike or horseback. in winter weather such as we have had for the last couple of years, even cross country skiing is a possibility.
We are close to the Elan and Wye Valleys, the Trans Cambrian Trail and Glyndwrs Way. The Lon Las Cymru cycle route is also close by, and on our website you will find a suggested, and we believe more interesting alternative route, taking you right past the door. The Radnorshire Ring, regional cycle route 25, also passes closeby, and this can easily form part of a circuit across Wales from East to West.

The Glyndwrs Way runs for 135 miles in an loop through Powys and Midwales starting and finishing in Knighton and Welshpool. The routes explores opem farmland, moors, forests and lakes and is inspired by the adventures of Owain Glyndwr. Glyndwrs Way passes right by the doorstep of Midwales Bunkhouse in St Harmon near Rhayader. The bunkhouse provides affordable, warm and comfortable, accommodatiion for walks as individuals or in groups.
