OverviewKendal Hostel is situated just a stones throw away from Kendal’s town centre. It provides comfortable and affordable accommodation to those visiting Kendal, the Lake District and the South Lakes.
Kendal is just next to the Lake District National Park, only 8 miles from J36 of the M6 and on the West Coast Mainline with Oxenholme train station. With its town centre location, there is easy access on foot to shops, restaurants, café, pubs and local food stores.
Just off the Dales Way walking route, ideal for your last evening before heading off to the finish point of Bowness on Windermere and one of the stop off routes on the LEJOG).
Secure bike storage, drying room, Self-catering facilities, Large comfy lounge area, complete with log burner, Pool Table and Free Wi-Fi. Bed linen is provided but not towels which are available for hire as well as laundry facilities. Individuals, small parties and groups of up to 40 are welcome with exclusive use also available.

Kendal makes a superb base for walks, surrounded by beautiful scenery in the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales. The festival offers a wide variety of walking experiences. Kendall Hostel provides ideal walkers accommodation at the centre of the festival.
Kendal, once home to Wainwright, is a thriving town with culture, nature, history, shopping, eating and drinking on tap. From the 6th -9th August it is set to host it’s 5th walking festival. Surrounded by beautiful scenery it offers a wide variety of walking experiences. Kendal makes a superb base for those who enjoy walking and the festival has something for everyone regardless of his or her walking abilities. All walks are free in 2021.
Kendal Hostel provides ideal walkers accommodation at the centre of the festival. Kendal Hostel, housed in a delightful large 4 story Georgian town house, sleeps up to 66 across 14 bedrooms. Guests coming down from the fells can enjoy private rooms, self catering with good company and lashings of hot water? Or perhaps a pint of the local beer and a plate of your favourite food in the bustling market town just outside the door !

Many guests have been asking, do we need a car to see the Lakes, The short answer is no!
When you come on holiday, you come to relax so why would you want the worry of, “Will there be any parking spaces?” and “How do I buy a parking ticket?”. Why not leave your car at home and enjoy the ride by being chauffeured around the Lakes by bus. Up until 1st November 2020 Stagecoach will be operating their Summer timetable which runs buses from Kendal, Monday to Saturday, from 5.40am. So you can make the most of every minute in the Lakes. Unlimited travel tickets gives you the freedom to explore from £11.50 per day, £26.00 for 3 days and £30.00 for the whole week! Don’t forget that English concessionary pass holders travel FREE! The 555 bus runs from Lancaster to Kendal, Windermere, Ambleside, Grasmere and Keswick all day long with no changes!

We stayed at KENDAL HOSTEL, which was perfectly positioned in the centre of town for all of our needs, not least a pre-dinner pint at any pub that took our fancy. It’s amazing what surprises are in hidden in the fabric of a town’s history, and Kendal is no different.Read More
