National Express stop for Kendal and Kendal bus station. (10 min walk), Kendal train station (15 min walk), Oxenholme (The Lakes Station) 5 mins by taxi, 15 mins by bus or 30 mins' walk.
We support the air ambulance by hiring towels and donating the rental money to them. We give our old towels and duvets to Animal Rescue and lend our large games to the RSPCA for Field Days. Jan is a member of Kendal Bid and gives her time freely to the local Coach Initiative. We donate beds to Security staff at Kendal Torchlight to help it survive. We donate all unclaimed lost property to Scope our local charity shop as well as donating through Feegle. We share all unwanted food with the community, much to Mollie the dogs disgust!

Another hostel with a Royal connection

This impressive Georgian building was once part of a brewery. It was turned into a youth hostel in 1986 to replace Kendal’s Stone Cross Hostel which was deemed too large to be viable. Princess Ann opened Kendal Hostel officially on 30/3/87. Now in private hands, it joined our Independent Hostel network in 2013.
