Cheap, remote bunkhouse in Snowdonia National Park
Remote & peaceful surrounded by green pastures, sheep and the rugged splendour of Snowdonia, Ffridd Bunkhouse offers basic bunkhouse accommodation. Just 2.5 miles in land from the seaside resort of Harlech with its magnificent medieval castle, pubs, cafes, shops and visitor attractions, the bunkhouse is one of the last farmsteads before the mountains begin. The simple self catering accommodation comprises two separate units. The main bunkhouse in a converted stone barn has a 12 bed dorm with a separate kitchen/dining area. A homely Rayburn provides the heating and hot water and the WC is just outside. The smaller bunkhouse is on the first floor above the farm garage. It consists of one open plan area with a kitchen/dining corner and sleeping for 4/5 in bunks and a double bed. The WC and shower are outside. The shower is shared with the main bunkhouse. This awe inspiring location is popular with walkers, mountain bikers, climbers and lovers of the big outdoors. BYO bedding. The Ardudwy Way goes right past the doorstep while the around the Rhinogs walk, the Mawddach-Ardudwy Trail and the Walking Wales from End to End route are less than 1 km away. It's also just 3 km to The Wales Coastal Path and 4 km to the Cambrian Way. On the A496 heading towards Harlech turn right at the LLandawg/LLainfair crossroads. At the next cross roads turn left then take the second right signposted Cwm Bychan. Keep on this road for approx. 1 mile, at the cross roads (with a chapel on the left) go straight ahead. After about half a mile take a right turn immediately after a small rubbish / recycling collection point. After about 200m you come to a gate in the road, go through it. After another 200m you get to another gate, go through it. The road goes down and up when the road becomes straighter and flatter there is a right turn down a narrow track ( if you get to a third gate you have gone too far) The farm and bunkhouse are at the end of the track about 400m. If using a satnav navigate to nearby village Llanfair first, or it may send you a difficult route.Public Transport :
