Castle Head Field Centre is set within 20 hectares of private grounds on the southern edge of the Lake District National Park close to Morecambe Bay. Sleeping up to 160 people across 33 bedrooms, the centre lends itself perfectly to educational groups, sports training weekends, corporate away days, youth, faith and family groups with the option of centre-led activities available. With excellent road and rail connections, reaching Castle Head is simple, once you arrive, it feels like a true escape into nature.

Available year-round, the centre offers both catered and self-catered accommodation options. Guests can choose from bed and breakfast, full-board packages, or exclusive hire of the entire property on either a catered or self-catered basis. Ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible, and most dietary requirements can be catered for. Self-catering is only offered to groups that hire out the whole centre.

A popular choice for groups seeking adventure, team building, relaxation, and a connection with nature. Our qualified tutors and trusted activity partners can provide engaging educational experiences for both adults and children (subject to availability), these are chargeable and must be booked in advance. Please enquire for further details.

The accommodation is split into two main areas: The impressive Georgian house sleeps up to 49 people across 9 bedrooms, while the Hillfoot Wing sleeps up to 111 in a mix of single, twin and dormitory style bedrooms, some with en-suite facilities. Facilities include a large dining hall, commercial kitchen, TV lounge, library area, two large common rooms, a cosy lounge with open fire, large sports hall and five classrooms. There is an outdoor covered veranda around the building. Free guest Wi-Fi is also available throughout the centre. Castle Head provides the perfect base for exploring the area's spectacular natural surroundings with walking paths directly from the centre.

The 20-hectare estate includes a large front lawn, amphitheatre sloped back lawn, two campfire areas, a terraced garden and walks along the river. It is ideally placed for both land and water-based activities, the surrounding mountains and the lakes of Windermere and Coniston, making it a great choice for groups to explore the great outdoors. The local village has a small shop and a country pub. To help everyone enjoy this spectacular location, a range of outdoor clothing is available to hire.

There is a campsite to the right-hand side of the driveway which is open for public camping (motorhomes only). For groups hiring the centre exclusively wishing to have exclusive access to the campsite, there will be a charge to close the field to the general public (subject to availability).

Bookings of all kinds are welcome; however, we regret that hen and stag parties cannot be accommodated.
