There are over 25 Field Studies Council Accommodation Centres across the UK, with many of them also part of the Independent Hostels network. Often in spectacular buildings and always in stunning environments, the centres are perfect for schools, clubs and groups of all sizes. They provide catered accommodation (self catering is often possible with sole use) and offer a variety of outdoor activities. The Field Study Council runs the centres with the aim of creating a world where everyone feels connected to the environment so they can enjoy the benefits it gives and make choices that help protect it.

FSC Margam Discovery Centre is a spacious & modern Field Studies Council centre set in 850 acres near Port Talbot in South Wales. Sleeping up to 142 across 33 en suite rooms, it is perfect for schools, clubs, conferences and families. All stays are catered and facilities include a large glass sided dining hall, plenty of communal areas and 5 high tech classrooms. Outside there is ample space for games and a wide range of outdoor activities can be provided.

Beautifully situated on the south facing slopes of Blencathra just 1 mile out of the Lakeland village of Threlkeld, Lonscale is a new hostel offering group accommodation at the FSC Blencathra Centre. Groups of 14-26 can have sole use of this award winning eco-friendly accommodation. There are also 4 self catering cottages and a 110 bed educational centre on this site.

FSC Preston Montford is a Field Studies Council in a beautiful Georgian mansion 6 miles west of Shrewsbury. Easily accessible from the motorway network, yet private & secluded the centre has 131 beds across 3 blocks. Perfectly suited to schools, clubs and gatherings of friends and families, couples and individuals can often also book rooms. Most guests opt for full board, although self catering is available for sole use bookings. A wide range of outdoor activities can be organised both on and off-site.

FSC Rhyd-y-creuau is a Field Studies Council centre set in Snowdonia National Park. The 2.2 hectare estate includes a football pitch, woodland, biodiversity garden, campfire area, teambuilding challenges, stream and ponds. The centre accommodates groups of between 30 and 100 and is ideal for schools, clubs and large gathering of friends and family. Both full board and self catering options are possible. Outdoor activities can be provided and Zip World Fforest is half a mile down the road.

FSC Start Bay is a Field Studies Council centre overlooking the South Devon coast offering 4* accommodation to groups of 20-40. Facilities include a well equipped self catering kitchen and plenty of communal areas with space for everyone to eat and relax together. Outside, along with panoramic views of the coastline, there's a BBQ area, fire pit and low ropes course. Sleeping groups of 15-145, the accommodation is in 4 blocks of 75, 33, 17 and 17 beds and can be booked by the block or the whole site. Facilities include a large dining room, several comfortable sitting rooms, two games rooms and classrooms. Outside there are beautiful landscaped grounds with seating areas, shelters, a kitchen garden and a wildlife area. Slapton Sands, the South West Coast Path and NCN 28 are all close by.

Accommodating groups of all sizes up to 130, the centre is perfect for schools, clubs, conferences and family celebrations. It sits in 48 hectares of private grounds, including woodlands, meadows, ponds and streams. A wide range of outdoor activities can be provided both on and off site. The stunning Pembrokshire coastline with its beautiful beaches is just a short drive away.

A Tudor and Georgian country mansion set in extensive grounds, it sleeps groups up to 120 in spacious dorms, twin and single rooms (many en suite). Ideally suited to schools, clubs, groups of friends/family and weddings, there are plenty of communal areas, a magnificent dining hall and classrooms. Available on a sole use basis with self catering or full board. A whole range of outdoor activities can be arranged on and off site.

FSC Dale Fort is a Field Studies Council centre on a cliff top on the Pembrokeshire Coast, within walking distance of beaches & the Wales Coastal Path. Built in 1856 as a defensive fort, it now accommodates individuals, families & groups of all sizes up to a max of 139. Ideally suited to schools, clubs, conferences and private groups, facilities include 3 accommodation blocks with single, twin, family & dormitory rooms (many en suite), meeting rooms, a large library which can easily seat 100 & plenty of communal areas. Outside there a several games areas. Self catering is possible with sole use, otherwise meals are provided. Outdoor activities are available.

FSC Millport is on the tiny Isle of Cumbrae off the west coast of Scotland. It is remarkably accessible, just 1.5 hours from Glasgow. Recently refurbished to a high standard it sleeps 139 across 64 rooms. Ideally suited to schools & clubs there’s plenty of classroom and communal space. It is also perfect for family & group holidays or celebrations. Book room only, B&B or full board. Self catering is possible with sole use. A wide variety of outdoor activities are available.

FSC Flatford Mill is an historic Field Studies Council centre in Suffolk. The centre sleeps groups of 20-78 in three internationally important buildings. There’s Willy Lotts’ House, (built in the 1500’s and made famous by John Constable’s ‘Haywain’ painting), Valley Farm (a medieval great hall built in the 1450’s) and the Mill itself that was owned and renovated by the Constable family in the 1700’s. The centre, always very popular with groups from schools, clubs and universities, is now welcoming groups of friends and families to stay in this historic setting.
