We took a big group – it was great!
Bushey Heath Farm bunkbarns are great places for a rural break. We booked out The Hen house and Hadfield Barn and took a big gang of families with children ranging from ‘teeny’ up to ‘handful’. We had people in the party who were less keen by the ‘camping-ness’ of bunk barn, but the soon came round when they saw the the facilities and cleanliness. Not to mention the stunning ‘middle of nowhere’ views. We used Hadfield Barn as a communal base for meals and socialising. The dining kitchen was huge and perfectly big enough for all us. Having said that, the Hen House was a perfect snug, quiet getaway when we needed it to be!
Our group spent the weekend walking the fine moors around Tideswell and Great Hucklow – watching the gliders of Hucklow gliding club soar and turn above us; some of use took to our bikes for the many great Mountainbiking routes nearby. If you’re interested in that sort of thing, Bushey Farm also do MTB courses! A great weekend of fresh air and fun was rounded off with climbing (carefully supervised for the children, of course!) on the iconic edges of Curbar. In the evenings we could lounge in the yard outside, birds darting to their nests in the eves before the inevitable chill drove us inside for hot drinks.
Bushey Heath Farm served us as a super base and blessed us with good weather. I think you need to book early to guarantee they can organise the weather, though. Oh! and I didn’t even mention their amazing eco-credentials. Another time…
