Blakedean Scout Hostel sleeps 24 in 2x 10-bed dorms and 2x leaders' rooms. There's a well equipped kitchen and a large communal room where the huge log burning stove provides the focal point in the evening after a day's adventuring. (BYO logs).
Outside you'll find a large grassed area, suitable for ball games, a camp fire and parking. There is also a campsite for extra guests or for DofE groups.
Overlooking a local beauty spot where moorland streams meet, the scope for activities on the adjacent moors is endless. The hostel is located just a few minutes walk from the National Trusts Hardcastle Crags with self guided walks, orienteering, cream teas and wild swimming in Hebden water, The Pennine Way is also close by which offers suberb walking over the moors. A pleasant hike northwards along the Pennine Way over Stanbury Moor takes you past Top Withens (“Wuthering Heights” in Emily Bronte’s Novel), on to Haworth Village, home of the Bronte family and the Worth Valley steam railway or head into Hebden Bridge and Todmorden to experience the delights of BBC's hit TV shows Happy Valley and the Jetty.
The area is also great for mountain biking, geo-caching, river walks, bird watching and exploring the great outdoors
With no mobile phone signal, the evenings will see your group enjoying old fashioned pursuits such as story telling, singing, card games, board games etc around the camp fire or in front of the log burner.
